Biography

Keynote Speaker Richard Starr brings over 40 years of experience in estate and retirement planning, business continuation and wealth preservation.

He has utilized his knowledge of insurance and financial services industry, income and protection products, primarily annuities, estate/gift/income tax laws, retirement, philanthropic estate/charitable giving planning, business, estate planning and associated techniques and planning tools (including trusts — irrevocable, revocable, charitable, etc.) in case consultation to premier level wholesalers and brokers.

He is a Premiere Keynote /subject matter/advanced marketing concept speaker for key meetings of financial planners, wholesalers, “brokers,” wire house, distribution partners, etc.

Prior to founding Advanced Marketing, LLC Richard was the Director of Advanced Sales, Income & Protection Solutions Group at MetLife where he initiated programs and material development reflecting holistic integration of income and protection solutions — insurance and annuities — to follow corporate mission of consumer centricity, using variety of media.

This presentation is an overview of the goals, objectives and benefits of philanthropic estate planning and the tools and techniques that can be utilized to meet them.  The bottom-line is that charitable goals and desires — helping favored causes — can be done so while at the same time presenting opportunities for effective and efficient tax and wealth transfer planning.

NOTE:  There is a separate presentation — “PLANNED GIVING — A Institutional Development Office Action Plan” that is prepared for presentation to Charities to educate them to these concepts but in the context of institutional/charity planned giving programs.  It includes as well the different component parts of an effective planned giving group and how to maximize planned giving efforts.

The Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust is an important significant tool in the arsenal of estate planning techniques use by attorneys, accountants, life insurance and financial planning professionals.

It’s ability, properly drafted, to meet client goals and objectives, keep insurance proceeds out of the estate(s) of the insured(s) and allow the grantor to frame the distributive scheme to this beneficiaries, and even provide for flexibility within its proper parameters can make the irrevocable trust an important estate planning consideration.

 

This presentation is a primer on basic estate tax considerations — what is the estate tax, how is it structured, how does it operate, what are the planning challenges, what are basic tools that the client needs to consider, what are some traps for the unwary, etc.

Meeting long-term care needs is an essential component of retirement and life financial planning.  Traditional stand-alone Long-Term Care Insurance, (LTCI), a determined industry response to the consumer need, is suffering  — battered by increased premium costs, reduced benefits, poor investment earnings, poor underwriting models, increasing healthcare costs, etc.

This is our opportunity to serve our clients — educate and present product and planning choices, alternatives and partners to traditional LTCI.
