Biography

Commander Rorke Denver is a retired U.S. Navy SEAL leader, New York Times bestselling author and internationally recognized keynote speaker who translates lessons from the battlefield into practical strategies for leadership, teamwork and personal performance. Drawing on more than two decades in the SEAL Teams, Rorke helps organizations develop people who can remain calm under pressure, adapt to changing conditions and execute when the stakes are high.

During his military career, Rorke ran every phase of training for the U.S. Navy SEALs and led special-operations missions throughout the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and other global hotspots. He served as an assault-team leader on more than 200 combat missions and received the Bronze Star with “V” for valorous action in combat.

Those experiences gave Rorke a firsthand understanding of what enables individuals and teams to perform in demanding and unpredictable environments. His message goes beyond battlefield stories to explore the preparation, trust, communication, discipline and personal responsibility required to accomplish a shared mission. He shows audiences how elite teams establish clear standards, respond to adversity and remain focused on execution when circumstances change.

Rorke is the author of the New York Times bestseller Damn Few: Making the Modern SEAL Warrior, which takes readers inside his personal journey and the demanding process used to identify and develop Navy SEALs. His second book, Worth Dying For, explores leadership, service and the principles that unite people around a purpose greater than themselves.

He also starred in the feature film Act of Valor, inspired by real Navy SEAL missions, and appeared alongside John Cena as a team leader during the first season of FOX’s American Grit.

Before joining the Navy, Rorke attended Syracuse University, where he was an All-American lacrosse player and captain of the varsity team. He later earned a master’s degree in Global Business Leadership from the University of San Diego. Today, he is the founder and CEO of EVER ONWARD, a leadership and human-performance organization that applies the principles of elite military preparation to the workplace and marketplace.

As a speaker, Rorke has spent more than 15 years working with organizations and audiences around the world. Rather than delivering a standard military presentation, he studies each organization’s culture, objectives and challenges and customizes his message around leadership, culture, teamwork, sales performance and individual execution. His goal is to create an experience—not simply a lecture—that gives audiences relevant ideas they can immediately put into action.

Through compelling stories, humor and hard-earned leadership lessons, Rorke challenges people to prepare with purpose, lead from the front and keep moving Ever Onward—regardless of the obstacles in front of them.

What is the top lesson he learned in Army Ranger school?  Which leadership trait won the day on a high mountain mission in Afghanistan? Buckle up!  This high energy presentation will teach, motivate and illuminate lessons only a rare few were in a position to learn.

Key themes include:

  • Leading from the front
  • Character, courage and service
  • Decision-making under pressure
  • Trust and responsibility
  • Lessons from extreme environments

True stories from the battlefield and the lessons they teach us at work today.

What is the top skill the Army taught Commander Denver? Which leadership trait did a SEAL sniper teach on a high mountain mission in Afghanistan? If taken hostage or prisoner, is there a skill you can use to escape your restraints…yes there is!

What can you learn from JFK and a baroque English architect about purpose? What did “random acts of instructor violence” teach aspiring Navy SEAL candidates in basic training? Can you steal someone’s physical power with one mindset trick?

It’s one thing to think like a SEAL, it’s another to get to act like one. In this hands-on workshop, audiences will get to experience real SEAL training including breaking free of restraints, the secret drill that teaches SEAL snipers how to never forget anything, self-defense and more. Best of all, Rorke takes each of these experiential lessons and makes a direct connection from the battlefield to the board room. Audiences see that the lessons they are learning are more than just fun and games and can actually serve as a catalyst to their own change they want to see. Workshops are designed to be customized and accessible to diverse abilities.
