  • My Brain Has a Hole in It

“I had the pleasure of bringing Gordon into a large association meeting of financial advisors and insurance agents. The nearly 200 in attendance saw great value in the personal story and motivational message shared by Gordon. Not only was he a fellow salesman, bringing relevance to his message; but he also gained life-changing benefits from insurance that he owned. (Quite pertinent, given the audience.)

His tenacity through adversity caused sincere reflection on the work ethic and motivation of those who heard him. I also left the meeting questioning my past unwillingness to be as proactive as possible, and thankful for the myriad blessings I realize I daily take for granted. Just seeing him struggle to share his message through his limitations was deeply meaningful. Realizing that he gave a presentation that was more polished than several other speakers we enjoyed the same day was humbling.”

Ben Davis, President NAIFA Portland

I just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you again for your recent presentation given during our Worldwide Sales Meeting. We try every year to find an external speaker to provide some interesting and compelling perspectives that help the group think about some of the larger issues in all of our lives – and that still have relevance to our professional responsibilities. I think your presentation succeeded admirably in both of those areas and was widely praised by our group who are representative of some fairly diverse geographic and cultural backgrounds.

Biography

Inspirational speaker Gordon Viggiano was a healthy, active, no-risk factor husband and father who still managed to suffer a massive stroke on his 51st birthday. One might say he was dealt a dirty card, but he sees it differently.

The experience has been a true test of faith and perseverance. Gordon is now 6 years post-stroke.  The journey of recovery is still in progress and he is happy to report that he is getting better all the time.

Gordon and his wife, Jill, will discuss this life changing experience and the lessons that have come along with it. Their hope is to inspire people and help them see that good things can happen, even when one doesn’t think it is possible.

Gordon is certainly not fully recovered from his stroke so this isn’t an “I did it and you can too” speech. He is in the middle of his recovery and so his perspective is from “the trenches.”

Presentations

In this presentation, Gordon discusses his life prior to his stroke, his sales career and his stroke experience.  Through his journey, Gordon came to understand that the skills he needed to be a successful sales executive were the same skills he needed to recover from his devastating stroke.

Gordon draws those parallels and helps the audience understand that their sales skills are really life skills.  He encourages the audience to learn these skills well, as they will need to apply their skills in other parts of their lives.  With his wife, Jill by his side, Gordon takes the audience through an exercise in goal setting, learning, accountability and self-discipline.

Gordon will take the audience through the whole stroke experience and try to inspire each person to face their own challenges and see that there is still life, love, and happiness to be found on the other side.  It may not look the same as it did, but there is still joy and meaning to be had.
