Presentations

As 2018 begins, investors and businesses are digesting the consequences and nuances of the sweeping Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, passed by Congress at the end of 2017. At the same time, the Trump Administration is readying a number of new initiatives, including a national infrastructure repair program, additional changes to the Affordable Care Act, immigration law and enforcement changes, infrastructure plans, and the continued rollback of many industry-specific regulations.

Hanging over these efforts are the 2018 midterm elections and the expected release of the Mueller investigative report on possible collusion by the Trump campaign with Russia’s purported interference in the 2016 election and collateral matters, both of which may alter the Administration’s ability to implement its programs.

Jeff Bush, an expert in political and legislative affairs, will address all of these matters in their 2018 presentations. He will focus on the portions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of particular importance to business owners, investors, and financial advisors, pointing out which individual situations and economic sectors are likely to fare well, or poorly, under the legislation. He will consider the extent to which Congress will adopt the President’s legislative initiatives, and how those initiatives are likely to affect the economy, the markets, industry sectors, and investments.

Jeff also will discuss the extent to which the administration is likely to overturn or soften regulatory initiatives, including the controversial Department of Labor regulation imposing new fiduciary obligations on financial advisors.

Along the way, Jeff will provide strategies that investors and financial advisors can consider to take advantage of (or protect against) market volatility arising as these initiatives progress, including specific strategies for investment, wealth transfer, and retirement planning.
